Job Summary:
This is a flexible position that calls for applicants willing and able to do a variety of things. The main responsibility is to drive small steel loads to job sites throughout California. The person filling this position will sometimes be a point of contact with McWhirter Steel’s clients and is therefore expected to act in a professional and friendly way that ensures a good image is set forth for McWhirter Steel. When not driving, the person fulfilling this position is expected to add significant value to the shop’s production process. Therefore, applicants should have knowledge and skills related to the structural steel fabrication industry such as machine operation, maintenance, fork-lift operation, welding, reading blueprints, grinding, operating a torch, etc. At least one of these skills, a current and clean driver’s license and an overall good attitude is required to be deemed a qualified applicant for this position. 
 
Major Duties:

• Driving small loads
• Maintenance on all McWhirter Steel Vehicles
• Ensuring trucks are properly/safely loaded
• Tasks associated with Steel Fabrication
• Physical Labor

 
 
Qualifications:
To fulfill this position at McWhirter Steel, prospects must:

• Have at least 1 skill associated with steel fabrication
• Have a current and clean driver’s license
• Have a positive, friendly attitude
• Be dependable and trustworthy
• Be knowledgeable of the different steel shapes and sizes
